The actress was previously recognized for playing the role of a 13-year-old Lebanese-American girl Jasira Maroun, who is undergoing turbulent personal struggles against the backdrop the U.S. war in Iraq in the Gulf War in the Alan Ball film Towelhead. Later, in 2007 Variety declared her to be among its top 10 actors to watch. She was also a key part in the 2009 crime drama Crossing Over.
